During the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta made a mistake, she was fooled by the similar names of the players.
The auction of players for the IPL season 2024 was held recently in which the franchises bought the best players for crores of rupees to add to their team.
An interesting situation occurred during the Indian Premier League auction when it came time to buy two players with the same name.
Punjab Kings honoree Preity Zinta who wanted to add 19-year-old Shashank Singh to her team but mistakenly bid for 32-year-old Shashank Singh and bought him at the base price of INR 2 million, when she realized her mistake. By then the bid was over.
Hariti Zinta raised her hand and wanted to change her bet but it was too late, the anchor said this player is now in your team.
19-year-old Sashang Singh remained unsold but 32-year-old Sashank became part of the Punjab team.
The next day, Punjab Kings said in a statement that we wanted to have the same Shashank Singh in our team.
32-year-old Shashank Singh thanked the team for dispelling confusion and instilling confidence in themselves after Punjab Kings issued a statement.
