Peshawar: A goldsmith from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa filed an application in the court to determine the price of gold.
Disturbed by rising gold prices, the goldsmiths approached the Peshawar High Court, where they filed a petition demanding that a uniform gold rate be fixed across the country as per the international rate.
The petition has proposed that the rates for labor, gold polishing, etc., should also be fixed at the official level and international units of grams and milligrams should be used for the weight of gold.
The petitioner opined that a government system should also be set up for assaying and laboratory testing of gold and allowing additional money to be collected from the public at the time of sale and polishing of gold.
Federal Government, State Bank and other relevant departments have been made parties in the application.
