Pakhtunkhwa; PTI top leadership away from cases and arrests, workers shocked

Peshawar: The top leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is still far away from cases and arrests unlike other provinces of the country.

No case has been registered against PTI leader and former chief minister Pervez Khattak in Nowshera, while his sons Ibrahim Khattak and Imran Khattak also escaped because they did not participate in the violent protests.

Former Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan is also free from FIR, no case has been registered against him in any police station of the province. His name is not included in the cases registered in Malakand on May 9, 10.

The former deputy speaker of the National Assembly in Swabi has taken bail from the court before his arrest and is still absconding. A case has been registered against Shahram Tarkai in Swabi but raids are being conducted to arrest him.

No FIR has been registered against Atif Khan in Mardan so far. According to the authorities, Atif Khan was not seen in the recent violent protests and arson.

In Swat, a case has been registered against PTI’s former federal minister Murad Saeed for making malicious speeches against institutions. Their residences were raided several times. Despite raids in Swat and Islamabad, they could not be arrested. The news of his going abroad is also circulating.

According to the authorities, the house of former provincial minister Kamran Bangash, named in the FIR of terrorism in Peshawar, was raided 11 times in Chamkani and Cantt, but his arrest could not be carried out.

The police have also visited Taimur Jhagra’s residence in Hayatabad 4 times, but his arrest could not be carried out. The police have gone to the petrol pump and house of former MPA Asif Khan 7 times, but they could not be arrested either.

According to police officials, district leadership of PTI and former provincial law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi have been arrested in Kohat. Malik Anwar Taj, MNA of PTI in Charsadda, has also taken bail before his arrest, while he is also absconding.

Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Peshawar MPA Arbab Jahandad has also obtained bail before arrest in the FIR registered in Chamkani, but he has been arrested in another case.

According to the authorities, the former provincial minister of PTI has been arrested since late. The help of federal investigative agencies has been taken to arrest former members of the Assembly and National Assembly as well as ministers wanted in anti-terrorism cases, but non-arrest of top PTI leadership and non-registration of cases is also a long-standing problem of Tehreek-e-Insaf. Unsurprisingly, activists are being criticized on social media.
