Saudi Arabia’s health department has warned its citizens and residents of the risk of Marburg virus look It has issued a warning not to travel to the African countries of Guinea and Tanzania.
The Ministry of Health said that Saudi nationals in both countries have been instructed to follow the precautionary measures and the instructions of the local health department.
Earlier this week, Guinea’s health ministry announced that an Ebola-like virus had spread from the country’s countryside to the commercial capital of Bata.
So far 13 people have reported severe fever due to the virus.
On the other hand, 8 people have been affected by the Marburg virus in Tanzania, out of which 5 have died.
What is Marburg Virus?
Marburg virus is produced by bats sitting on the fruit and directly transmitted to the human body.
The death rate from this virus is 88% and no vaccine has been discovered so far.
Marburg’s symptoms include fever, convulsions, severe headache, these symptoms appear at day 7 in a person infected with the virus, followed by hemorrhagic symptoms.
The virus was first discovered in 1967, and since then, the Marburg virus has hit 12 times in full force.
