Approval to levy a fixed surcharge of Rs 3.23 per unit on electricity consumers

Islamabad: Nepra prepared to give another jolt to electricity consumers and approved a permanent surcharge of Rs 3.23 per unit.

Nepra has approved additional burden of Rs 335 billion on electricity consumers. In this regard, NEPRA sent its decision to the federal government on the request of the government. Nepra has approved the imposition of a permanent surcharge of Rs 3.23 paise per unit on electricity consumers.

According to the decision, the additional surcharge in the price of electricity will be imposed from the next financial year. The additional surcharge will also be applicable to domestic, industrial, commercial and agricultural consumers. The additional surcharge will also be applicable to electric consumers.

According to the decision, till June this year, the government will collect an additional surcharge of Rs 3.82 paise per unit, while from the next fiscal year, a surcharge of Rs. 3.23 paise per unit will be charged.
