San Francisco: Gordon Moore, a world-renowned figure associated with the microprocessor industry, co-founder of Intel and introducer of Moore’s Law, has passed away.

Gordon Moore was 94 years old and after Intel he founded Fairchild Semiconductor, which grew many companies in Silicon Valley. In 1968, he founded Integrated Electronics, later known as Intel, and was its CEO for 8 years.

Gordon Moore’s greatest achievement is Moore’s Law, which was predicted in 1965. According to this law, Gordon said that the number of transistors in a microprocessor will double every year. Then after ten years, he said that every two years the number of transistors doubled, meaning that the number would increase by half in one year. Interestingly, this trend continues till now and microprocessors are getting more powerful.

In 2015, Gordon Moore, with the support of his wife, founded the charity, which works in higher education, environmental protection and scientific research.
