Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited the heads of states of the former Soviet Union for the first joint summit.
The first China-Central Asia Summit will be held in May, with the Chinese president sending invitations to the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on Monday and Tuesday.
Beijing is developing ties with Moscow’s traditional political and economic allies in the region.
China has plans to connect Central Asia with an extensive road, rail and port infrastructure that is in the works.
Xi Jinping hosted an online regional summit in January 2022, marking the 30th anniversary of China’s diplomatic ties with Central Asia.
