Karachi: Food Minister Sindh Jam Khan Shoro says that the process of purchasing wheat from farmers in Sindh is going on, the production of wheat this season has been more than 42 lakh metric tons.
Talking to the media, Jam Khan Shoro said that this time the wheat harvest has been better than the previous years. The provincial minister said that the food department will purchase 9 lakh metric tons of wheat this year.
He said that the official price of wheat in Sindh is fixed at Rs 4,000 per maund. Jam Khan Shoro said that there are already 5 lakh metric tons of wheat in the warehouses of the food department.
The Food Minister said that the Food Department has so far purchased 643 thousand metric tons of wheat.
