Quetta: The first case of polio has come to light in Pakistan this year, the polio virus was confirmed in a two and a half year old child resident of Dera Bugti.
According to the sources of the health department, the first case of polio in Pakistan this year and the first case of polio after three years in Balochistan has been reported.
Samples were taken for the child’s test on February 22, 2024, which has now confirmed the presence of poliovirus. The last polio case in Balochistan was reported three years ago in February 2021 from Qila Abdullah.
According to the health department, the presence of polio virus has been found in the environmental samples of Balochistan since August last year. In view of the alarming situation of polio, a special polio campaign will start from March 24 in 9 districts of the province.
