Lahore: Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan took oath as Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
The swearing-in ceremony of Chief Justice Lahore High Court was held at the Governor House, where Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman administered the oath of office to Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, judges of Lahore High Court, provincial ministers, federal and provincial law officers, administrative officers and other personalities participated in the ceremony.
Later, Governor, Chief Minister and other participants congratulated Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan on taking oath of office. After taking the oath, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan reached the Lahore High Court, where he was warmly welcomed and saluted. Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan also inspected the guard of honour.
It should be noted that after the retirement of Chief Justice Amir Bhatti, the number of judges in the Lahore High Court has reduced to 38, while the number of vacant posts has increased to 22. Justice Shujaat Ali Khan became the senior-most judge of the Lahore High Court and Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan became part of the management committee.
