Islamabad: The Accountability Court reserved its decision on Fawad Chaudhry’s request for further physical remand in the Khurd Bard case.
Accountability Court judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case against Fawad Chaudhry in construction projects in Jhelum. On this occasion, Raja Aamir submitted the lawyer on behalf of Fawad Chaudhry while his mother and brother were present in the court. During the hearing, the court accepted the request of Fawad Chaudhry to meet his family, while the NAB prosecutor requested for further physical remand of Fawad Chaudhry.
The NAB prosecutor argued that 7 bank accounts show that some transactions were suspicious. Fawad Chaudhry is suspected of paying bribes through suspicious bank account transactions. Banking records regarding Fawad Chaudhry case are to be exported. Fawad Chaudhry managed the projects with influence.
Lawyer Safi Raja Aamir said in his arguments that it is not known which land is being transferred. Show whether the land is on record or not. It should be stated in which year the land was purchased, when the transfer took place. The documents show that the government approved the plan. No contract was awarded to any contractor personally. There was also a case of showing low price by buying land, which was dismissed by the High Court.
The lawyer said that there is a statement by a government official that the government has suffered a loss of billions. The bank account of 18 lakh rupees has been mentioned by the NAB prosecution. NAB wants to finish all the cases in the inquiry itself. Papers have been submitted for elections, political revenge is being taken. A politician’s career is elections. They want to keep Fawad Chaudhry in jail during election days. In the 6-day physical remand, not even a single bank record could be brought. During the arguments, lawyer Safai also referred to the Ahsan Iqbal Narowal Sports Complex case and said that Fawad Chaudhry does not have any other bank accounts.
Fawad Chaudhry’s lawyer opposed the request for further physical remand. On this occasion, Fawad Chaudhry came to the rostrum and said that all my accounts are declared, and there is no account. I am ready to give an affidavit regarding my accounts, also give an affidavit to NAB somewhere.
Later, the accountability court reserved its decision on NAB’s request for another 12-day physical remand of Fawad Chaudhry.
