Peshawar: The High Court issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner for not allowing the convention to PTI and sought his reply.
A hearing was held in the Peshawar High Court on the petition of Tehreek-e-Insaf Hangu President Yusuf Khan against not allowing the convention.
Petitioner’s lawyer Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah told the court that PTI was not allowed to hold a workers’ convention in Hangu. Applied for NOC to Deputy Commissioner but it was rejected.
Justice Ejaz Anwar remarked that the government has submitted a reply that there is a law and order issue and no party is allowed to hold a convention or rally. The court inquired whether any party held a meeting in Hangu, to which the lawyer said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam held a meeting in Hangu on November 26.
Justice Ejaz Anwar remarked that it will not be like allowing one and rejecting the request of the other. The Deputy Commissioner should submit the answer at the next hearing.
The lawyer took a position in the court that the petitioner has been harassed ever since he submitted the application. His house was also raided yesterday, following which the court restrained the police and administration from harassing the petitioner.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing till December 12, seeking a response from Deputy Commissioner Hangu.
