Lahore: Due to poverty, inflation, unemployment, rebuke from parents and failure in love, 89 people committed suicide in the capital of Punjab this year alone. Young boys and girls are also among those who commit suicide.
According to the data obtained by Express, 4 men and 1 woman committed suicide in the month of January and 5 men and 3 women committed suicide in the month of February. Similarly, 2 men and 3 women committed suicide in the month of March. In the month of April, 4 men and 5 women committed suicide.
5 males and 4 females committed suicide in the month of May, while 6 males and 4 females committed suicide in the month of June, 4 males and 4 females committed suicide in the month of July. Similarly, 5 males and 3 females committed suicide in the month of August and 7 males and 3 females committed suicide in the month of October.
In the first fortnight of November, 8 men and 3 women committed suicide. Most suicide cases were reported in the month of November.
According to reports, in the suicide incidents, the deceased committed suicide by using poison, pistol fire, and swinging with a trap.
SSP Operations Lahore Syed Ali Raza says that there is a need to control the increasing cases of suicide day by day. Along with government institutions, the society also has to play a role in this regard.
