Sri Lanka’s fifth bowler was dismissed for 135 runs against Bangladesh in New Delhi, Angelo Mathews was dismissed by the umpire without a ball being played.
This is the first time in the history of cricket that a batsman has been called time out on appeal by the opposing team.
According to the law of international cricket, a new batsman has to face the ball within 2 minutes.
Sri Lanka’s new batsman had a broken helmet strap. Angelo Mathews was late in getting a new helmet from the twelfth over, after which the umpire called the Sri Lankan batsman a time-out.
