Chairman Aptma Asif Inam has said that the electricity crisis and price increase have severely affected exports.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTAMA) Asif Inam further said that we have the potential to export more than 650 million dollars. The cost of the textile industry also increased due to the increase in electricity rates.
He said that we have met with the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Energy on the issue of electricity. Our textile industry is on the verge of closure.
Meanwhile, Aptma’s former chairman Aamir Fayyaz said during a press conference in Islamabad that last year’s textile export was 19 billion dollars.
While this year textile exports were 16 billion dollars. Our export target this year was 25 billion dollars.
He said that Bangladesh is talking about increasing its textile exports to 70 billion dollars.
