Dubai: A female passenger was arrested for smuggling gold bricks weighing one kilogram in her underwear at the Indian airport.
According to Indian media, the Customs Department in Kochi city checked a female passenger of a flight coming from Dubai on suspicion, then 4 pieces of gold bricks were recovered from her underwear, the total weight of which is one kilogram.
The airport security force also detained 4 people who came to pick up the woman. It is not yet clear what quality the gold is and how much it will be worth.
At the same airport, 500 grams of gold was also recovered from the underwear of a passenger coming from Sharjah. The said passenger was arrested and shifted to the police station and the investigation is on.
There is a gap of only 4 to 6 hours between these two events. This is the first case of arrest of two separate passengers trying to smuggle gold at the same airport on the same day and in the same manner.
