The operation against electricity thieves in Lesko region continues for the sixth day

Lahore: The operation against electricity thieves in Lesko region has been going on for six days, during which more than 100 cases have been registered.

According to the spokesperson of Lahore Electric Supply Company, the operation against electricity thieves in LESCO region is going on vigorously for the sixth day. Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider has said that the power thieves will be brought to justice.

On the sixth day of the operation against electricity thieves in Lesko region on the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Energy, 205 connections in all circles were found to be involved in electricity theft. Applications for FIRs against all electricity thieves have been filed in the respective police stations, out of which 105 FIRs have been registered while one accused has also been arrested.

Among the connections seized were one agricultural, six commercial and 198 domestic. After disconnecting all connections, they have been charged 443,875 units of detection bill amounting to Rs.18,522,713 (one crore 85 lakh 22 thousand 713). In the operation against electricity thieves, large agricultural and commercial consumers were also found involved in electricity theft.

According to the spokesperson, FIR applications were submitted against 1497 connections, out of which 947 applications have been registered and a total of 86 accused have been arrested. So far 4,775,973 units have been charged to the electricity thieves with an amount of (201,751,130) 20 crores 17 lakh 51 thousand 130 rupees.
