According to initial reports, the death toll is more than 300 while more than 150 people have been injured.

After the earthquake, relief operations have been started in the affected areas, but the communication system has been badly affected. Areas were plunged into darkness due to power outages, due to which terrified citizens spent the night in open spaces and on roads.

According to the US Geological Survey, the strong earthquake occurred in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, with its epicenter 75 km southwest of Morocco. The underground depth was 18.5 km. Aftershocks are still ongoing after the earthquake.
