Crackdown order against people involved in usury business across Sindh

IG Sindh take action and submit report by September 26, Sindh High Court

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered a crackdown against people involved in usury business across the province regarding the prevention of usury business.

The Supreme Court ordered that action be taken against such people who take advantage of the underprivileged. An important hearing regarding the prevention of usurious business was held in front of a single bench consisting of Justice Islahuddin Paiwar.

The court issued orders to the Interior Department and IG Sindh to crack down on people involved in usury business across the province.

Justice Salahuddin Paiwar while issuing orders said that IG Sindh should issue orders to all SSPs to take action against those doing business on interest. IG Sindh should take action and submit a report by September 26. Member Inspection Team 2 High Court also inform all Judicial Magistrates about court orders.

Justice Salahuddin Paiwar ordered the Sindh Home Department to issue instructions to all deputy commissioners to take action against people involved in profiteering. The court ordered to make the rules of the Sindh Prohibition of Interest on Private Loan Act in 2 months.

The court ordered that the Secretary Law should submit a report within 2 months of making the rules of the Act related to the prevention of usury business. If the rolls are not made in 2 months, then the Home Secretary should appear in court in person.

Secretary Law submitted the implementation report to the court. In which it was said that the Sindh Prohibition of Interest on Private Loans Act 2023 was made in the province on court orders. A regular gazetted notification of the Act has also been issued. The law has come into force against the people involved in profiteering business, actions are going on.

Justice Salahuddin Paiwar ordered that action be taken against such people who take advantage of the underprivileged.
