London: Lucy Letty, a 33-year-old nurse who killed 5 newborn babies and 2 girls by lethal injection during her shift in the intensive care ward of a UK hospital, has been sentenced to life in prison.
According to the World News Agency, Lucy Letty killed the infants by injecting them with poison and force-feeding them while performing her duty in the ICU of the Countess of Chester Hospital for 15 months between 2015 and 2016.
In her statement, the nurse admitted to deliberately killing the children, saying that she was unable to take care of them.
The police also found a written note from the house of the accused nurse in which it was written that I am a horrible and evil person. I am the devil.
In the light of the confession and evidence in the court, the nurse was declared guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment today. Life sentences are rarely given in the UK.
Sentencing, Judge James Goss said the killing of innocent children was a brutal and premeditated act.
