Lahore: The Accountability Court approved the remand of Parvez Elahi till August 29 in the case of scams and kickbacks in government contracts.
During the hearing, NAB requested the physical remand of former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi for another 14 days, on which Judge Zubair Shahzad Kayani of the Accountability Court approved the physical remand till August 29.
Lawyer Amjad Parvez while giving arguments in the court said that the matter of repeated arrest of Parvez Elahi is under hearing in Lahore High Court and Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ordered the Lahore High Court to hear and decide the case by August 21. The case has not been heard in the Lahore High Court yet, the hearing is to be held today. If the court approves Parvez Elahi’s physical remand for an appropriate time, we have no objection.
Judge Zubair Shahzad Kayani inquired that you should tell me for how many days you agree, to which the lawyer said that there is no objection if remand is given till Monday. Parvez Elahi also has a back problem. It is requested that Parvez Elahi’s personal doctor be allowed for check-up.
During the hearing, Parvez Elahi came to the rostrum and told the court that I also have a request. My knees are swollen, I am not feeling well. I request that my personal doctor be allowed to check up. There is one visit a week with the family.
Later, the court approved Parvez Elahi’s physical remand till August 29.

Meanwhile, in an informal conversation with journalists on his appearance in the accountability court, Pervaiz Elahi said that PTI and I pay tribute to the army because the army has made great sacrifices for this country. I also pay tribute to the Judiciary from the bottom of my heart and also pay tribute to the media for doing its part for the rule of law.
Pervez Elahi said that Tehreek-e-Insaf and Chairman PTI also salute the entire judiciary and forces. In the absence of assemblies, the media is showing the oppression of them. Putting the name of Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher is a matter of great regret. My message is they should stand with PTI.
