Managing Director of Oxford University Press is addressing a press conference regarding the organization of the 14th Karachi Literary Fair at the Arts Council.
Karachi: Karachi Literature Festival will be organized under Oxford University Press from February 17 to 19 in which other literary activities including panel discussion, book launch and photo exhibition will be organized.
According to Express News, a press conference was held at the Arts Council regarding the organization of the 14th Karachi Literary Fair in which Managing Director of Oxford University Press Ali Arshad, Mujahid Barelvi, economist Qaiser Bengali and former Finance Minister Shabar Zaidi and other personalities participated. of
The three-day Karachi Literature Festival will be held from February 17 to 19 at a local hotel in Karachi and the theme of this year’s LF is ‘People, Land, and Possibilities’, which reflects the current economic and geopolitical challenges facing Pakistan and the devastating effects of Pakistan. The focus is on climate change impacts resulting from floods and recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
This year Karachi Literary Fair will have more than 200 speakers including 10 international speakers from Pakistan, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Germany and France, more than 60 sessions will be held in both Urdu and English. A combination of 24 books is also included. All sessions will be broadcast live worldwide on Oxford University’s social media channels.
This year will also feature two Booker Prize-winning authors, Damon Galgat (2021) and Sheehan Karunatilaka (2022).The inaugural ceremony will announce a total of 7 literary awards for Pakistani authors. These awards will recognize outstanding work in Urdu prose and poetry and English fiction.
Managing Director Oxford University Press Ali Arshad said that Pakistan is facing various challenges today, we have seen many problems that are affecting the population of Pakistan. The solution will be discussed, the problems caused by climate change around the world including Turkey will be discussed.
He said that Dr. Adeeb Rizvi will be the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony and his service and efforts will be appreciated on this occasion, no political personality is the chief guest in this ceremony.
Mujahid Barelvi said that unfortunately personalities make institutions here, this fair has completed fourteen years, literary fairs are being organized in other cities including Torbat and Lahore, citizens are waiting for Karachi literary fair.
Economist Qaiser Bengali expressed that OUP takes steps to provide food for the soul because literature, music and dance are the food of the soul, its trend has increased among other citizens including Turbat. A large number of children are present in this festival, which one enjoys even unwillingly.
Economist and former finance minister Shabar Zaidi said that a very unliterary atmosphere had been created in Karachi, but KLF is still there as a hope. They wish to participate in this festival, KLF has become a tradition, which is proving to be helpful in solving the vexing problems of Karachi.
