Islamabad: In an important meeting presided over by the Chief Election Commissioner, the letter sent by the President was considered.
According to Express News, the constitutional and legal implications of the letter and the constitutional and legal responsibilities of the Election Commission were also considered in detail, while the Election Commission also reviewed the letter of the Ministry of Interior.
In its letter, the Ministry of Interior informed about the bad law and order situation in the country and the war against terrorism and said that due to the security situation, the services of Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces cannot be available during the election.
In the meeting, the Ministry of Finance also considered the economic situation in the country and the non-availability of required funds for holding elections.
According to the Election Commission, the Ministry of Finance has asked to postpone the request for the provision of funds for the elections.
The security concerns presented by Chief Secretary VIG Punjab and Chief Secretary VIG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also considered in the meeting.
