Babar Azam's downgrade in ICC's new Test rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a new Test ranking in which Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been demoted from fifth to sixth place.

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has moved up a notch to the number one position.

England’s Joe Root dropped four places to fifth place, while Australia’s Steve Smith moved up four places to second place.

Steve Smith scored a century in the first Test of the World Test Championship and the Ashes series.

India’s Ravichandran Ashwin remains at number one in the Test bowler rankings.

Australian captain Pete Cummins has moved up two places to the second position while South Africa’s Rabada is at the third position.

England’s James Anderson has moved down two places from second to fourth place, while Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi has improved by one place in the ranking.
