The Lahore High Court has given time till February 21 to submit a report along with an affidavit to the Chief Executive Tosha Khana to present the records of the persons who received Tosha Khana gifts.
According to Express News, a hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the request to submit details regarding the heads of state who have received foreign gifts since 1947. In which the court remarked that if the affidavit is not submitted at the next hearing, contempt of court will be taken.
Justice Asim Hafeez of Lahore High Court presented the details of the persons who received gifts from Tosha Khana, heard the request of Advocate Azhar Siddique for receipt, expressed his anger and made remarks to the court for not submitting an affidavit on behalf of the head of Tosha Khana. Why not issue a show cause notice for contempt of court on disobedience of the court order.
The court rejected the vague reply of the section officer of Tosha Khana. Justice Asim Hafeez inquired about the whereabouts of the officer who was summoned with the affidavit.
The section officer informed the court that we are considering to reveal the information of Tosha Khana to the public. The court remarked that we have nothing to do with it, the court had asked for the details of Tosha Khana with an affidavit. .
On the previous hearing, the court had asked for the records of the persons who received gifts from Tosha Khana, while the court had directed the public prosecutor to submit an affidavit along with the report. The court adjourned the hearing till February 21.
Petitioner Munir Ahmed’s lawyer Azhar Siddique Advocate argued that the Cabinet Division had published the details of gifts received by Imran Khan. The cabinet division did not provide the details of Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and other gifts, despite writing letters to the concerned authorities, the cabinet division did not provide the details of the gifts. It has been requested in the application that the details of who bought how many gifts from Tosha Khana should be provided.
