Karachi: In the last 20 days, 5 cases of sexual assault were reported in Lyari General Hospital, out of which 3 girls died during treatment.
The report submitted by the Medical Superintendent of Lyari General Hospital to the Sindh Health Department confirmed the rape of three girls. According to the report, two girls were discharged from the hospital after initial treatment, 3 girls died during treatment, four girls were brought to Lyari while one was brought from the municipality.
According to the sources, when the girls were brought to the hospital, they were covered in blood, the ages of the affected girls are from 2 years to 14 years, a two-year-old girl was brought on January 18, a three-year-old girl on 23 and a 10-year-old girl on January 24. All three girls died before treatment, the 12-year-old girl was brought on January 12 and the 14-year-old on January 24.
The report issued by the hospital authorities further stated that during the treatment and physical examination, it was observed that she was brutally sexually assaulted and therefore the concerned police personnel were called by the administrator himself and told that the F.I. File an R and file a medical case.
According to the report, the parents or families of the patients refused to file a case and forcibly took the dead bodies and surviving patients home, with the relatives unwilling to cooperate with the hospital staff and the police.
