Karachi: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khurram Dastgir has said that loadshedding in Karachi is injustice to the bill payers.
Talking to the media, the Federal Minister said that this year Karachi will be given a subsidy of 171 billion rupees for electricity. RLNG supply to K Electric has been disrupted due to the cyclone. He said that the effects of the storm seem to be diminishing.
Khurram Dastgir said that the Prime Minister has directed to give 100 mmcfd of gas immediately, on which SSGC provided additional gas to K Electric. Now only normal loadshedding is happening in Karachi. Loadshedding in Karachi is not a fault in the power system. Tariff differential subsidy is being given to Karachi.
He said that 171 billion rupees subsidy will be given to Karachi for electricity this year. A subsidy of 151 billion rupees is being given for the entire country. K Electric is providing uninterrupted power to 70% of the areas, in 30% of the areas where there is load shedding, the bill payers are being oppressed. K Electric is going to solve the issues of Sui Southern.
The federal minister said that Shahid Khaqan will be the head of Abbasi’s electric and needle gas committee. K Electric is undergoing restructuring. K Electric’s license has not been renewed yet. K Electric’s license will be renewed after the Power Purchase Agreement PPA.
