Muhammad Yasin of Pakistani origin has been appointed as the Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism of Alberta, Canada.
Newly elected Premier Daniel Smith announced a 25-member cabinet. Muhammad Yasin has previously held various positions including Assistant Minister and Parliamentary Secretary.
He was elected president of the Pakistan Canada Association five times. Muhammad Yasin migrated to Canada in 1976 from Kaler Syedan.
He received his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Calgary. Before joining politics, he worked as an engineer in the oil industry.
Alberta Provincial Immigration Minister Muhammad Yassin, speaking to Representative Jang after the swearing-in, said, “I thank the people of Alberta for giving me the opportunity to serve.”
Consul General of Pakistan Janbaz Khan congratulated the newly elected Provincial Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism Muhammad Yasin and said that his election is an honor for Pakistan and the Pakistani community.
