"Secession is the only solution" Christian tribe in Manipur land tight, clashes intensify

Clashes against Christians have intensified in the Indian state of Manipur.

According to details, 92 people were allegedly killed, 302 injured and nearly 30,000 people displaced in anti-Christian violence in Manipur, the situation in the Indian state remains tense and unstable.

The Kuki Christian tribe says that giving the Meitei community the status of a ‘Scheduled Tribe’ (declared as a minority tribe by the constitution) is a violation of their rights, they say that this constitutional status of minorities. given to while the Mati community is in the majority.

After the Modi administration’s move has led to unrest leading to clashes with rioters, resulting in widespread damage to vehicles and property, the Modi government has issued special orders for law enforcement agencies to deal with violent clashes. Powers have been sought and the army has been deployed.

Law enforcement agencies have been unable to control the situation and clashes in the Meti-dominated Imphal region, and the Kukis in the area are being exterminated, Kuki community members say, in collaboration with the state police. The violent mob launched targeted attacks against them.

According to reports, even in the presence of the Chief Minister, violence against poor Christians continues in the state, where food is scarce, curfew is still enforced by the army and paramilitary forces, internet is suspended, shops, schools and offices are suspended. Locked down, thousands of people are trapped in overcrowded and unsafe refugee camps.

Kuki feels that “secession is the only solution” and fears the end of the Christian people under state patronage, while the Modi government’s ongoing campaign against Christians is being interpreted as a tribal conflict.

Eradicating Christians from Manipur is an anti-Christian move, due to these violent actions of the Modi government, these clashes are turning into a mass insurgency.
