Lahore: The Lahore High Court has ordered to first seal and then demolish the smog remedial and environmental polluting factories.
Justice Shahid Karim heard the petitions of citizen Haroon Farooq and others. Government officials and law officers appeared on court orders. Reports were submitted by the concerned departments before the court.
The court directed that all resources should be used to control smog, fruit and shade trees should be planted in the city.
The court sought a detailed report of the anti-encroachment operation in the city, while also seeking reports from other departments on June 16. The court also sought the action report from the LDA against the felling of trees.
Advocate LDA took the stand that action is being taken to eradicate encroachments in the city, Advocate DGLDA itself is monitoring the anti-encroachment operation, against those who do not plant trees on the roofs of big buildings. Action is being taken.
The court inquired that Amaltas plants are quite visible in the city. The government lawyer informed that this plant is environment friendly and its flowers are used in making medicine.
The court inquired as to what steps were being taken to plant saplings, to which the public prosecutor said that saplings were being planted on court orders and decided to start a tree plantation drive, saplings and new trees in schools and colleges. are being planted, construction is going on in Rose Garden Park, 17 Kanal area of a park is occupied by mafia, LDA has not taken any action despite giving requests.
The court ordered that it is the order of the court that the LDA should process it. The LDA lawyer said that the LDA has cut more than 100 trees in front of its office, the court has sought a report from the LDA on the next hearing.
The lawyer further said that trees were not planted even on 117 acres of Civil Aviation.
