The fire in an old shoe warehouse in Baldia Etihad Town area of Karachi went out of control and became a test for firefighters. Reaching the place also remained a challenge.
A sudden fire broke out in a shoe warehouse, which quickly engulfed the compound consisting of 14 to 15 plots. Two more vehicles were called in. The roof of the warehouse collapsed due to the fire.
Fire tenders also faced difficulties in reaching due to difficult routes and dilapidated roads, fire brigade vehicles also faced shortage of water.
The victims said that initially they tried to put out the fire with their own help, when the flames went out of control, they informed the fire brigade, and also demanded an investigation to bring out the causes of the fire.
After a 5-hour rescue operation, the fire was brought under control with the help of 5 fire brigade vehicles and a water bowser.
