Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Mukhtar Ahmed has said that government universities are currently facing financial difficulties.
Talking to Geo News, Chairman HEC said that the Chief Minister has been written to ask universities to contribute to the budget, HEC’s budget has not been increased for 6 years.
Mukhtar Ahmed said that 30 to 40 new universities have been built but the budget is the same, the salaries of university employees have increased by 100% in 6 years.
Chairman HEC says that there is no need to create HEC at the provincial level, the financial burden will increase.
He said that if HEC is to be made at the provincial level, then the Higher Education Department should be closed.
