Another milestone has been crossed at the international airport of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, from where direct Hajj flights have been started from today.
According to the spokesperson of Civil Aviation, last night, 2 flights PK 6133 and 6137 of Qaumi Airlines departed for Madinah carrying three hundred Hajj pilgrims.
PIA flight PK 747 made its first night landing on the new Category-II runway at Quetta International Airport last night.
The same flight later departed directly for Madinah carrying 145 pilgrims.
The PIA pilot says that landing on the new cat-to-runway of Quetta Airport at night was a very pleasant experience.
Earlier, pilgrims from Quetta had to travel to Karachi first, recently, direct flights have become possible thanks to the upgraded 12,000 feet long runway.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson, CAT-II modern airfield lighting system installed on the new runway ensures operations in all weather conditions.
Thanks to the new runway, wide-body aircraft (Boeing 777 and equivalent) can now arrive at Quetta Airport.
