Train accident in India, death toll rises to 288

The death toll is rising as a result of a collision between two passenger and one freight trains in the Balasore district of the Indian state of Orissa.

According to Indian media, the death toll in the accident that occurred yesterday has reached 288, which may increase further.

More than 900 people were injured in the horrific accident who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals while the rescue operation is still ongoing at the accident site.

According to reports, 12 to 15 coaches of the Kolkata-bound passenger train derailed and fell on the other track, while the Yeswantpur-Howrah passenger train on the other track collided with the affected coaches.

According to Indian media, the Minister of Railways has formed a committee to investigate the train accident.
