Arab League's historic moment, Bashar al-Assad arrives to participate -

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in Saudi Arabia to attend the Arab League summit.

According to Saudi media, this is Bashar al-Assad’s first visit to Saudi Arabia since the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011. Syria’s membership in the Arab League was suspended for not stopping the crackdown on protesters.

Syria has been readmitted to the Arab League after more than a decade, with Bashar al-Assad arriving in Jeddah to attend.

During the Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia, it was agreed to restore Syria’s membership, and in recent days, several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Egypt, have made high-level visits to restore relations with Syria.

Last month, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan visited Damascus and discussed the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, while the Iranian president also signed several agreements while visiting Syria a few days ago.

The meeting of the Arab League will be held on May 19 in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Members of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, including Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Tunisia’s President Qais Saeed, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Lebanon’s Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Meqati, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, have arrived in Jeddah to attend the meeting.
