The World Food Organization suspended aid to the Palestinians

Occupied Jerusalem: The World Food Program (WFP) will suspend aid to more than 200,000 Palestinians next month due to severe funding shortages.

According to international media reports, WFP Director for the Palestinian Territories, Samir Abdul-Jubeir, said that due to the severe shortage of funding, the organization is stopping food aid to the Palestinians to increase its limited resources.

WFP will begin suspending food aid to more than 200,000 Palestinians from June next month, which is 60 percent of the organization’s current food aid total. Families most affected by malnutrition are in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, where food insecurity and poverty rates are highest.

WFP provides Palestinians with a $10.30 monthly voucher and food, but the suspension of food aid next month will end both programs.

It should be noted that according to Palestinian and UN records, Gaza, which has been under the control of the Hamas group since 2007, is home to 230,000 Palestinians, of whom 45 percent are unemployed and 80 percent depend on international aid.
