Karachi: Due to mismanagement and financial crisis in University of Karachi, employees protested for the right to leave encashment.
According to the details, since April 17, the employees of University of Karachi have been protesting for leave encashment benefits, scholarship and now the employees have left their pen and went on strike while also boycotting the work in the offices.
The employees are facing severe problems due to not getting the annual leave encashment, University of Karachi employees held a general body meeting and passed a unanimous resolution to ensure the payment of the agenda leave encashment that they will go on strike today. If the demand is not accepted, either all the employees will go on a collective leave of one month or else there will be a complete strike. All public dealing, transport, practical lab and counter dealing will remain closed.
University of Karachi Associate Professor Riaz Ahmed has revealed that University of Karachi Finance Director Dr. Tariq Kaleem has received the best performance award for presenting a surplus budget, while he did not present the budget for the last 6 years and did not attend the Syndicate meeting. If so, how the award was received is a question mark. He said that levy encashment has been stopped due to rising inflation, which is causing thousands of employees to worry.
Talking to Express, Murtaza Wahab said that there will be an inquiry into the performance of the Finance Director and the allegations against him.
In the meeting, the employees said that the University of Karachi is suffering from severe financial crisis, the main reason of which is financial mismanagement and its main responsibility is the Director of Finance, Tariq Kaleem.
The employees say that the Vice Chancellor should fulfill his promise and release the leave encashment amount, the leave encashment allowance is approved by the competent authority of University of Karachi. The employees said that the Finance Director of the University of Karachi has stopped the scholarship cases of the employees’ children for two years. We demand immediate issuance of benefits and scholarships until the administration does not accept the demands and the strike will continue without pen. Administrative office affairs, work in departments and point drivers will also boycott.
