Peshawar: The caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has referred the accounts of more than 1300 social media influencers recruited in the previous period of Tehreek-e-Insaf to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for investigation on the use of accounts against state institutions.
In the request sent by the provincial information department to the FIA regarding the use of personal accounts of social media influencers recruited from the government treasury against the state and state institutions, it has been asked to investigate these social media influencers.
The application said that 1109 social media influencers recruited under the annual development program scheme were recruited to publicize government initiatives, however, according to reports, most of the social media influencers campaigned against the state and state institutions from personal accounts and were involved in activities against the state. According to the official records, a total of 24 crore 26 lakh 65 thousand rupees were spent on salaries and other allowances to the recruited social media influencers during the Tehreek-e-Insaf era, while other expenses are apart from them.
