Warring parties in Sudan ready for talks: UN

UN envoy Volker Perthes has said that the warring parties in Sudan are ready for negotiations.

According to a foreign news agency, Volker Perthes, the United Nations special representative in Sudan, while talking to the media, said that the parties in Sudan have nominated representatives for negotiations.

He further said that the talks will be held in the Saudi city of Jeddah or the city of Jabba in South Sudan.

Volker Perthes has also said that no timeline has been set for the talks.

According to media reports, 512 people have been killed and more than 4,000 injured in the ongoing civil war between the army and paramilitary forces in Sudan since April 15.
