Today is the last day of the deadline given by the Supreme Court to the government and Tehreek-e-Insaf to agree on the date of joint elections in the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a meeting of the coalition parties at 12:30 PM today before the talks with PTI. After the meeting of the coalition parties, the cabinet meeting will also be held at 2:30 PM.
Sources of the ruling alliance say that the prime minister is ready to settle matters with PTI, but some allies are objecting to talks with PTI.
On Friday, PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq contacted PTI’s Asad Qaiser and agreed to meet on Wednesday, but Imran Khan says that he has given the mandate of talks to Shah Mehmood Qureshi and not Asad Qaiser.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan says that he wants elections in Punjab on May 14 anyway.
