Beijing: China has offered to mediate or facilitate the peace talks between Israel and Palestine in order to end years of tension and ensure the establishment of peace in the region.
According to the World News Agency, China’s Foreign Minister Qin Geng has said that he is ready to help restart peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians after nearly a decade.
It should be remembered that peace talks between Israel and Palestine have been stalled since 2014.
Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said in separate telephone conversations with his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts that his country is ready to mediate or facilitate peace talks.
On this occasion, the Israeli and Palestinian foreign ministers welcomed the offer of their Chinese counterpart.
In a telephone conversation, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen called the resumption of talks mediated by China encouraging, while Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said that he supports the resumption of talks mediated by China as soon as possible.
According to Chinese media, Foreign Minister Qin Kang urged his counterparts in a telephone conversation to implement a “two-state solution” for peace talks, which China itself is under pressure from Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.
It should be noted that last month, China passed a diplomatic milestone by acting as a mediator in the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which reduced the influence of the United States in the Middle East.
Similarly, if China succeeds in ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, then China’s influence in the Middle East will become stronger and its fierce rival America will face difficulties.
