Inauguration of the photo exhibition on the history and culture of Pakistan in the European Parliament


A photography exhibition was inaugurated at the European Parliament in Brussels to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the European Union.

This exhibition has been organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in collaboration with the French Member of the European Parliament Hervé Jouvin.

The week-long photo exhibition showcases Pakistan’s rich history, cultural heritage, architecture, tourism, sports, religious, cultural and diverse cuisines through dozens of photographs.

The exhibition was inaugurated by MEP Herve’ Juvin, Member of the European Parliament. The opening ceremony was attended by members of the European Parliament, officials of European institutions, diplomats and media representatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Herve’ Juvin MEP, the host of the exhibition in Parliament, said that Pakistan is the youngest country on the planet with the second largest Muslim population.

He further said that Pakistan is a nuclear power state which is located at a very important geographical location at the junction of Middle East, South and Central Asia as well as China.

Referring to the devastating floods, he said that more than 30 million people were affected by this disaster in Pakistan last year, emphasizing that Pakistan contributes less than 1 percent to carbon emissions. Despite being one of the most vulnerable countries to climate disasters.

Speaking on behalf of Pakistan, Syed Faraz Hussain Zaidi, Charge d’Affaires of the Pakistani Mission, thanked the MEPs and other dignitaries for their visit and keen interest in Pakistani arts and culture.

He highlighted the immense potential for further expansion of Pakistan-EU relations in many fields and expressed Pakistan’s readiness to take forward this fruitful and constructive partnership.
