Islamabad: Nepra held a hearing on the federal government’s requests for K-Electric quarterly adjustments, which during the briefing said that electricity would cost consumers up to Rs 6 per unit.
According to Nepra, in the application, an increase of Rs 4.45 paise per unit has been sought for the first quarter adjustment of the current financial year, while an increase of Rs. Is. The petitions contended that K-Electric customers were not charged these quarterly adjustment increments.
The petition stated that the increase of these quarterly adjustments has been received from the customers of the discos. K-Electric consumers will also be charged for uniform tariff across the country.
During the hearing, the CPPA officials told in the briefing that the additional burden of up to 20 billion rupees will be imposed on the consumers of K Electric. Consumers in Karachi will pay an average of Rs 4.76 paise extra per unit from April to June. Nepra was informed in the briefing that under K Electric quarterly adjustments, electricity will cost up to Rs 6 per unit, while with 2 quarterly adjustments, electricity per unit will cost an average of Rs 4 76 paise per unit.
Nepra completes hearing on 2 quarterly adjustments for K Electric. The final decision in this regard will be issued later.
