US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken has expressed serious concerns over the arrest of an American journalist on charges of espionage in Russia in a telephone call to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Antony Blanken demanded the immediate release of the American journalist Ivan Grishkovich, in response the Russian Foreign Minister said that the American journalist was caught red-handed, and the Russian court will decide on his release.
According to the US Department of State, the two foreign ministers also discussed creating a favorable environment for the US-Russia diplomatic mission.
According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said to his American counterpart that it is unacceptable to make a stir by giving a political color to the American journalist Grishkovich’s case.
A journalist from the American newspaper Wall Street Journal was arrested in Russia on Thursday on suspicion of spying for the United States.
