Lahore: Today, Pakistan Day will be celebrated across the country with national enthusiasm.
The day will begin with a salute of 31 guns in the federal capital and 21 in the provincial capitals. A 21-gun salute will be fired at Mahfouz Shaheed Garrison in Lahore, while a solemn ceremony of changing of the guards will be held at Mazar-i-Iqbal. Pakistan Air Force Chak Choband detachment will take over the responsibilities of the guards.
There will be a special flag hoisting ceremony at the Wagah border in Lahore in which fans from all over the country will participate.
There will also be an exchange of sweets and gifts between Pakistan Rangers Punjab and BSF India.
In Fajr prayer gatherings, special prayers will be offered for the security and stability of the nation, while special prayer ceremonies will also be organized in the places of worship of believers of other religions.
Seminars and conferences will be organized and rallies will be held on the occasion of Pakistan Day under the auspices of political and religious parties.
Pakistan Day is celebrated in memory of the resolution passed by the All India Muslim League on 23 March 1940, in the light of which the Muslims of the subcontinent dreamed of a separate homeland for themselves. This resolution was presented at Minto Park in Lahore where Minar Pakistan was built as a memorial to him.
