The brother of Balochistan social worker and social media activist Abid Mir, who went missing from Islamabad, has said that he was allegedly missing in Syria yesterday.
Abid Mir was last seen on the occasion of the ‘Baloch Awart March’ on Wednesday.
Khalid Mir, the brother of the missing social worker, released a video on Twitter in which he said that Abid Mir’s family is in touch with the police and has registered a missing persons case.
He further said that Abid Mir was not involved in any controversial issue in recent times and he had not received any threat from anyone.
The disappearance of the Baloch activist has raised serious concerns on social media. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has also expressed concern and urged the Islamabad Police to investigate the matter immediately.
Many journalists and social media activists have expressed their concern over Abid Mir’s disappearance, including journalist Hamid Mir.
Abid Mir worked as local editor for ‘Lok Sujag’, a multimedia investigative journalism platform. The said platform focuses on marginalized issues and communities.
