Application filed for K Electric's Nepra hearing to be held in Islamabad instead of Karachi

Karachi: Civil society representatives filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court against Nepra’s hearing on K Electric’s seven-year investment plan in Islamabad instead of Karachi.

The petition has been filed by civil society representatives Mahfouzul Nabi Khan, Haleem Khan Ghori, Ashfaq Lodhi, Mahfouz Ahmed, Waliur Rahman Usmani and others. A division bench headed by Justice Aqeel Abbasi will hear the petition tomorrow.

The petition has requested that the electricity transmission and distribution system in Karachi should be brought into competition with other companies through public auction instead of a single company or be returned to the government custody and Nepra’s mysterious hearing in Islamabad. should be declared null and void.
