Islamabad: The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan took personal notice of the delay in the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which will be heard by a nine-member bench today.
According to the details, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court constituted a 9-member bench which will hear the case today at 2 pm.

The 9-member bench will be headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan while other members of the bench include Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Khan Afridi, Justice Mazahir Naqvi, Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Athar Min Allah included.
Review questions
The following questions will be examined by the 9-member bench on its own notice:
1. Who has the constitutional responsibility regarding general elections?
2. When and how will the responsibility for general elections be paid?
3. What is the responsibility of the federation and the province regarding general elections?
4. Whose constitutional responsibility is it to give the date of elections after the end of the assembly?
On the other hand, the government has objected to the inclusion of two judges, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Mazahir Naqvi, in the nine-member bench. Rana Sanaullah said that ‘we hope that both judges will be separated from the bench due to our reservations.

Apart from this, the Pakistan Bar Council has also expressed reservations on the nine-member bench in the self-notice case. Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council said that a full court bench should have been formed on this matter.
