Karachi: On the call of the Joint Action Committee, a protest was held in the Karachi Press Club for the arrest of the killers of martyred journalists Nasrullah Gadani and Jan Muhammad Maher and an indication was given to start a movement.

During the protest at the Karachi Press Club, the leaders of journalistic organizations announced that a judicial commission under the supervision of a High Court judge should be established for the transparent investigation of the martyred journalist Nasrullah Gadani’s murder case.

Journalists said that a protest movement will be started from Karachi to Kashmore for the arrest of the named accused in the murder case of Shaheed Jan Muhammad Mehr.

Apart from journalists, activists of civil society and various political parties also participated in the protest in front of the Karachi Press Club on Saturday on the call of the Joint Action Committee to arrest the killers of the martyred journalists.

President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) GM Jamali, Convener of Joint Action Committee Waheed Rajpar, Former President of Sindh Journalists Council Ghazi Jhandir, President of Karachi Union of Journalists Ijaz Ahmad Khan, Former President of Karachi Press Club. Imtiaz Khan Faran, Hanif Soomro, Hasan Abbas, Azam Jamali, Nasir Khattak, Shahid Hussain Syal, Karachi Bar Association Leader Raheel Samsam, Lawyer Leader Kazem Mahesar, Israr Shah, Muzaffar Brohi, Elahi Bakhsh Bakk, STP Leader Khair Muhammad. Magsi, Hayat Tanyu, Advocate Ayaz Chandio of Awami Democratic Party, Secretary of Sindhi Literary Sangat Malir Qamber Butt and others said that the accused involved in the target killing of journalists should be immediately arrested and brought to justice.

The journalist leaders said during the protest that despite the merciless killing of Shaheed Nasrullah Gadani, the police is still unable to show any clear progress in the case.

He said that despite the demands of the heirs and journalists from all over Sindh, a judicial commission has not yet been established to bring forward the accused, their facilitators and the main accused involved in the murder case of Shaheed Nasrullah Gadani. The main killers of Shaheed John Muhammad Maher have not been arrested, if justice is not met immediately, they will start a protest movement across Sindh and march to the houses along with hundreds of writers and heirs of the martyrs.
