The declaration also condemned the laws against the media

Islamabad: In a unanimous resolution by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Peshawar, all parliamentary parties, including the Parliament, have been demanded to amend the constitution related to the procedure for appointing judges.

In the resolution, the Parliament has been demanded to amend Article 209 to provide public access to the proceedings of the Judicial Council, to make public the assets of the judges of the High Court, to appoint the Supreme Judicial Council for immediate action on the pending references. Go, and decisions should be made in ninety days.

The resolution further said that the appointment of judges in the High Courts or the Supreme Court should be postponed until the rules of the Judicial Commission are formally approved by the Committee or no criteria for the appointment are set.

Laws against the media have also been condemned in the declaration after the meeting.
